An exceptional well known law firm in Detroit, MI is looking for a Secretary who:

Will assist two Attorneys

In order to provide efficient and high quality support, utilizes the desk and tools of department secretaries, and quickly and effectively becomes familiar with and adjusts to the practices and expectations of department attorneys.

Prioritizes assignments and prepares often sensitive and detailed correspondence such as responses to requests for information; regularly recurring reports from rough draft, shorthand or machine dictation; routine litigation related documents; and/or presentations using a high level of secretarial skills and advanced word processing abilities, as well as, that of other software applications used by the department.

Efficiently proofreads and edits text for grammatical and typographical errors; occasionally for content.

Professionally answers, screens, places calls, and records and communicates messages according to appropriate procedures.

Greets and screens internal/external visitors.

Effectively obtains familiarity with routine office procedures and forms in order to respond appropriately to detailed inquiries concerning departmental activities and operations.

In addition to secretarial peers and department attorneys, interacts professionally with members of other departments and varied external contacts.

Schedules appointments, makes travel and/or meeting arrangements, and maintains business calendars as needed.

May prepare large volumes of documents and efficiently establishes and maintains well organized files (readily accessible to others).

Prepares bills, maintains billing records, and enters attorney time.

Among other tasks, cooperates with internal and external departmental members as needed.

Maintains confidentiality, assures work product is accurate and presented professionally, and makes efforts to foster a positive rapport with all internal and external contacts.

Job Qualifications for this outstanding company:

# At least 5+ years of Litigation experience in a Large Firm (prior and/or on-the-job) necessary in order to acquire necessary familiarity with departmental and firm procedures, learn record keeping systems in order to file documents, maintain logs and records, and operate standard office equipment.

Familiarity with Best Authority and Summation

# Must have advanced word processing skills and be able to use such tools as footnotes and redlining.

# Advanced in the use of Word, Outlook (or compatible e-mail application), and redlining, as well as an ability to quickly and effectively learn to efficiently utilize other software applications used by the department, such as DeltaView, iCreate, Styles, Hot Docs, RightFax, InterAction, and especially how to e-file using ECF.

# High level of communication skills, consisting of social sensitivity and in-depth knowledge of department procedures, in order to communicate effectively with management, attorneys and staff within and outside the department, and external contacts, including clients.

# Ability to organize and prioritize a high volume of tasks and complete them under significant time constraints.

# Ability to proofread typed material to eliminate grammatical, typographical and spelling errors.

.Interpersonal skills necessary to convey and obtain information.

# Ability to follow and convey instructions effectively with a high degree of courtesy and tact including ability to independently initiate follow-up.

# Must be a problem solver, willing to work and think with a degree of independence, handle confidential information with discretion, and accept responsibility for producing work that is consistently complete, timely, effective and accurate.

# Excellent organizational skills; detail oriented.



# Litigation experience, preferably in the area of Labor and Employment.

# Analytical skills necessary in order to handle routine administrative details.

# Ability to adjust to frequent changes in assignments, and an ability to work overtime when needed.

# Must pass an initial skills test at a minimum of 75% and typing test at a minimum of 65 wpm.
